About the Artist

"When I get to Heaven, I mean to spend a considerable portion of my first million years in painting and so to get to the bottom of the subject."

PAINTING HAS THROWN OPEN THE WINDOWS OF MY HEART TO SEE

LIFE ANEW. THE BRUSHES AND PAINTS HELP TO CAPTURE SOME OF THE

BEAUTY I SEE ONTO THE CANVAS.

EVERY PAINTING IS A SELF-PORTRAIT. HOW AN ARTIST SEES A SUBJECT

AND COMMUNICATES THE ENCOUNTER THROUGH HIS ART DESCRIBES HIS

PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER. VOLUMES OF THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS

ARE EXPRESSED WITHOUT SAYING A WORD.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE ABILITY TO PAINT AND FOR HOW IT HAS

AFFORDED ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO PAINT WITH OTHER ARTISTS.

My first attempt at art happened when I was 36 years old as I picked up a #2 pencil and sheet of paper to draw a portrait of Winston Churchill. With much delight and surprise, I had actually captured his persona.

Encouraged by artist friends to paint with watercolor paints and join them in classes and a workshop, I was hooked but not to watercolor. I enjoyed the camaraderie and the creativity of the talented artists, and I eventually found oil paints as my medium of choice.

Color!! Oh, how I love bright pretty colors. Problem was: I could not capture the colors on canvas as I was seeing them. Some time later I learned that by incorporating light and shadow the colors would become dramatic and vibrate with intensity. Now my oranges and reds on the canvas resound with the true colors I am seeing while painting.

With wonderful support from family and friends, my life is filled with love and joy. The Lord has blessed me so much and it is to Him that I give all the glory, honor and praise.
