About the Artist
Artist’s Statement
When drawing and painting, time seems to stand still, and I am in
a metaphorical garden of delight. I love the play of light on form
in any composition; florals, foods,
still lifes, portraits, figures or landscapes. I love
seeing new relationships in the study, the expansiveness when loving attention
takes over and love the challenge of translating what I see onto a two
dimensional surface.

Biography/Resume
My work has been strongly influenced by David Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, Lu Haskew, Mark Silvers, Ellie Weakley, Cathy Goodale, Jan Kunz, and Susan Blackwood. Recently, I’ve found a stimulating artistic environment in Lindy Burnham’s workshops in Fort Collins, and in membership in Colorado Coalition of Artists.I have studied at the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts in Loveland Colorado, and the Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale Arizona.
The first daughter of an oil geologist, I was born in Casper,
Wyoming. My family moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, then to Denver
Colorado. My aunt Stella was an art teacher who made art experiences on our
family vacations with her fun. I graduated from Cherry Creek High School, with
many positive art class memories, and from The Colorado College,
Colorado Springs, with positive summer school sculpting class memories. I
completed medical school at the Denver campus University of Colorado School of
Medicine, internship at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, and
residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. I met my husband of
more than 28 years, during internship. In 1984, I resumed drawing and painting
in a more disciplined way. Recently, my mother gifted me with some
of her paintings, brushes and stories; stories of her painting while she
was pregnant with me. This painting discipline has become a grace filled spiritual journey.
